Encounter Earth exists to improve global social justice and environmental sustainability through market-based societal change. We believe in Love, Truth, Honesty, Equality of People, Freedom of Expression and Hope.
We take inspiration from the Heretical Imperative – a term borne from Celtic Spirituality – which refers to the need for people to push the edge of the known and accepted to the point where people question their motives, understanding and even sanity. This typically results in positive change.WE BELIEVE... that buying sustainable Direct or Fair Trade goods is not an act of charity and that you can’t change the world through shopping alone. We seek to be an alternative to business-as-usual. We want to replace existing consumption with something better, and we want to inspire pressure for positive change. that by forging connections between people, and by rejecting the tired old categories of ‘producers’ and ‘consumers’, we can do our part to promote intercultural understanding. that by telling you the story behind the products you buy, we can empower you to make more informed purchasing decisions, and we can help create pressure for transparency and openness at all levels of the business world. that environmental responsibility and social justice go hand-in-hand.
